PANO - Recently, some China’s orthodox mass media, including the Global Times, the International Herald Leader published articles on China’s illegal placement of the drilling rig Haiyang Shiyou-981 deep in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf. These articles are written by Ke Xiaozhai, Zun Xiaoying, Lu Jianren of the Southeast Asia Research Institute under the Guangxi University. PANO - Being questioned on China’s irrational “nine-dashed line” claim at this year’s Shangri-La Dialogue, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Wang Guanzhong told a ridiculous story to prove the claim. Wang said that since the Han dynasty over 2,000 years ago, China discovered and gradually authorized Nanhai (East Sea), especially islands of Nansha archipelago (Truong Sa archipelago of Vietnam), and its “nine-dashed line” claim was nothing new. He added two years after China recaptured Nansha and Xisha (Hoang Sa of Vietnam) in 1946 which had been occupied by Japan in World War II, Beijing defined the boundary and declared the “nine-dashed line” claim. Obviously, the Chinese general ignored China's claim’s vague origin and later its modifications as it wishes for this groundless claim. In 1946, taking advantage of disorders after World War II, the Republic of China’s Chiang Kai-shek sent … [Read more...] about Such a bizarre “history”!
