Hanoi still reported the highest number of infections on the day with 162 cases, followed by Da Nang with 47 and Yen Bai with 42. Besides, the southern province of An Giang added 986 COVID-19 cases to the national caseload after verifying information The national caseload reached 10,742,234. HCM City’s number of firms grows over 26 percent from 2016
A corner of HCM City (Photo: VNA) HCM City (VNA) – The number of businesses in Ho Chi Minh City amounted to 216,170 in 2021, up 26.2 percent from 2016, according to the city’s economic census for last year. Of the total figure, there were 270 State-owned enterprises, down 22.9 percent from 2016. By contrast, the numbers of non-state and FDI enterprises were at 208,609 and 7,291, up 25.1 and 75.2 percent, respectively. The decrease of state-owned firms during this period reflected the policy of the Party and State in arranging, transforming, and equitising the group in order to improve their role and business production efficiency. Among localities, Thu Duc city posted the highest number of operating companies, at 30,729, followed by District 1 (18,184 firms), Tan Binh district (16,745), and Binh Tan district (15,333). 44 caught using drugs in Dak Lak bars
Bar 47 on Buon Ma Thuot Town's Che Lan Vien Street and Bar Monaco on Ly Thai To Street were blasting music when police officers rushed in. Crowds of customers tried to escape but were all detained. Packers containing drugs were found littering the floor. A gun loaded with 25 bullets was also found in Bar Monaco, hidden under the chair of 32-year-old Tran Tien Dung. Dung and other suspects were taken to the police station, where Dung confessed to have bought the firearm for VND3 million ($129) in Cambodia in 2016 for self-defense. A quick drug test revealed 44 people testing positive for narcotics. Support proposed for fishermen struggling with petrol price hike
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) has proposed helping fishermen amid increasing petroleum prices. Many fishing boats in Vietnam are staying ahosre due to high petroleum prices MARD reported that petroleum prices have kept rising since December last year, which left up to 55 percent of fishing boats in Vietnam staying ashore. This has affected the seafood supply for the domestic and export markets. The country has 91,716 fishing vessels that consume an average of about 330 million litres of fuel per month. Diesel 0.05S, the main fuel for fishing vessels, has surged in price by 65 percent compared to late December last year. This means that fuel costs for fishing activities have increased by roughly VND3.77 (USD162.5 million) trillion each month. Fuel costs usually account for 45-60 percent of input costs for fishing vessels, which means an overall increase in operational costs of 35-48 percent.
