Two firms in the southern province of Bac Lieu have been fined for violating Covid-19 prevention rules which have led to a large virus outbreak in the area. The Gia Rai Town People's Committee on November 10 announced a fine of VND 20 million each to Tan Khoi Seafood Company and Chau Ba Thao Seafood Company for violating Covid-19 prevention rules which have caused the largest virus outbreak in the area so far. According to local authorities, the two companies had failed to conform to the government's regulations on Covid-19 prevention and control. They didn't carry out weekly Covid-19 testing for workers at their workplaces, which had caused a large-scale virus spread in the community. Alling woman in Bac Giang in desperate need of support
A blind woman in the northern province of Bac Giang is calling for help as she faces kidney failure, but her family are too poor to cover the treatment. Trieu Thi Yen, 46, from Yen Dung District has been suffering from kidney failure for 14 years. She has to come to Bac Giang General Hospital for dialysis three times a week. Yen and her son Yen said that she was blind since birth. In 2005, she started working for a massage facility for the blind in Hai Duong Province. Then, three years later, she gave birth to her son Trieu Van Hung. When her son was three years old, she faced tiredness and oedema. She also lost breast milk. She was diagnosed with the final stages of kidney failure. She was totally shocked. Due to financial difficulties, she could not afford to buy powdered milk for her child. Instead, she had to use dilute soup to feed him. Vietnam records 58 COVID-19 cases on May 21 afternoon

Among the 57 domestically-transmitted cases, 39 were found in Bac Giang province, 13 in the neighbouring province of Bac Ninh, two in Da Nang, one in in Lang Son, and two in Tan Trieu facility of the Vietnam National Cancer Hospital. The latest cases have brought the national count of domestic infections to 3,462, with 1,892 detected since the new wave of the pandemic started in the country on April 27. The recoveries now stand at 2,689, while the number of fatalities is 41. Among the patients under treatment, 63 have tested negative for the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 once, 34 twice, and 23 thrice. Kickbacks in medical equipment procurement exposed in Vietnam
Giving and taking kickbacks in procuring coronavirus test kits during the COVID-19 pandemic has been uncovered across Vietnam, with dozens of health officials arrested for involvement in price gouging for illegitimate profit by a supplier discovered five months ago. So far, more than 30 health officials, including three seniors from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Science and Technology, and eight directors of provincial centers for disease control (CDC), have been arrested for receiving 'commissions' as kickbacks from Viet A Technology Corporation (Viet A Corp.), which had illegally raised prices of test kits to earn huge profits. The latest arrest took place on May 11, when Ha Giang Province CDC director Nguyen Tran Tuan and his two subordinates were apprehended on charges of taking bribes. COVID-19: Vietnam reports 2,227 new cases on May 13
Illustrative image (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam recorded a total 2,227 new cases of COVID-19 and no death in the past 24 hours to 4pm May 13, according to the Ministry of Health. Hanoi reported the highest number of infections on the day with 495 cases, followed by Nghe An with 123 and Phu Tho with 120. The northern province of Bac Giang added 443 cases to the national log after verifying information. The country has to date logged 10,693,141 COVID-19 cases, including 43,063 deaths. A total 9,065 COVID-19 patients were given the all clear on May 13, bringing the number of recoveries so far to 9,344,029. There are 333 patients needing breathing support. Kickboxing competitions wrapped up on May 13 evening with finals of weight categories being held in the northern province of Bac Ninh. Huynh Van Tuan, who won gold at the previous SEA Games in the Philippines in the under 51kg Full Contact men category, succeeded in defending his title after beating his Indonesian opponent Pattisamallo Salmri Stendra in the final. Meanwhile, Nguyen Thi Hang Nga clinched another gold in the women’s under 48kg Full Contact, which was her second at the regional sporting event.
