Hanoi reported the highest number of infections on the day with 495 cases, followed by Nghe An with 123 and Phu Tho with 120. The northern province of Bac Giang added 443 cases to the national log after verifying information. The country has to date logged 10,693,141 COVID-19 cases, including 43,063 deaths. A total 9,065 COVID-19 patients were given the all clear on May 13, bringing the number of recoveries so far to 9,344,029. There are 333 patients needing breathing support. Alling woman in Bac Giang in desperate need of support
A blind woman in the northern province of Bac Giang is calling for help as she faces kidney failure, but her family are too poor to cover the treatment. Trieu Thi Yen, 46, from Yen Dung District has been suffering from kidney failure for 14 years. She has to come to Bac Giang General Hospital for dialysis three times a week. Yen and her son Yen said that she was blind since birth. In 2005, she started working for a massage facility for the blind in Hai Duong Province. Then, three years later, she gave birth to her son Trieu Van Hung. When her son was three years old, she faced tiredness and oedema. She also lost breast milk. She was diagnosed with the final stages of kidney failure. She was totally shocked. Due to financial difficulties, she could not afford to buy powdered milk for her child. Instead, she had to use dilute soup to feed him. Kickbacks in medical equipment procurement exposed in Vietnam
Giving and taking kickbacks in procuring coronavirus test kits during the COVID-19 pandemic has been uncovered across Vietnam, with dozens of health officials arrested for involvement in price gouging for illegitimate profit by a supplier discovered five months ago. So far, more than 30 health officials, including three seniors from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Science and Technology, and eight directors of provincial centers for disease control (CDC), have been arrested for receiving 'commissions' as kickbacks from Viet A Technology Corporation (Viet A Corp.), which had illegally raised prices of test kits to earn huge profits. The latest arrest took place on May 11, when Ha Giang Province CDC director Nguyen Tran Tuan and his two subordinates were apprehended on charges of taking bribes. Costing nearly 120 billion VND (nearly 5.2 million USD), the 10ha complex has been named Asia’s biggest complex of its kind located in an urban area by the Asia Book of Records. Aeon Mall wants four more Hanoi projects
At a recent meeting with Hanoi Party secretary Dinh Tien Dung, Nagakawa Tetsuyuki, general director of Aeon Mall Vietnam, said the Aeon Mall Hoang Mai project is now in its last preparation stages for investment. It has enough funds, personnel and equipment to begin construction right after investment procedures are completed, he said. Aeon Mall is currently operating six projects in Vietnam, including two malls in Hanoi's Long Bien and Ha Dong districts. It plans to launch 16 more projects in Vietnam by 2025. Tetsuyuki said he hopes Hanoi will continue its support so the Aeon Mall Hoang Mai project can begin construction in the third quarter. AEON Mall to invest in more projects in Hanoi
AEON Mall – an enterprise specialising in large shopping and retail centres – is operating six projects in Vietnam, including two commercial centres in Hanoi's Long Bien and Ha Dong districts In a recent meeting with Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung, Tetsuyuki said that by 2025, AEON Mall has a policy of implementing 16 more projects in Vietnam, including up to four projects in Hanoi.
