Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh (Source: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) - The Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) Agreement would be a vital deal in utilising free trade and ensuring sustainable development in Vietnam, said Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh. Therefore, economic sectors should prepare and take the initiative in economic restructuring in order to maximise the pact, which is scheduled to be inked in Chile on March 8 (local time) by ministers from its 11 member countries, Anh told the Vietnam News Agency (VNA). The minister said such sectors as garment-textiles, footwear, food processing, beverage, confectionery, tobacco, wine and beer will benefit most from the deal. MARD Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong said though the agricultural sector of Vietnam has obtained major achievements, it cannot rest on its laurels due to three challenges, which are the small production scale, climate change impacts and economic integration into the world. He admitted that the country has good agricultural production capacity but the production remains ineffective due to the small scale. Besides, deep processing has just developed for only some commodities like shrimp, tra fish and milk to create products with higher added value. Germany automation firm Festo to expand investment in Việt Nam

Photo courtesy of the company HCM CITY — Festo, a German supplier of automation technology and technical education, plans to expand investment in Việt Nam to take advantage of the increasing foreign investment and production in the country. Ansgar Kriwet, member of the management board of Festo, said Việt Nam has the fastest growing economy in Southeast Asia with a growth rate of 6.5 per cent. Manufacturing is its strongest sector and accounts for more than 50 per cent of FDI, he said. As Asia’s new manufacturing hub, Việt Nam requires strong support from motion automation, he said. 17th Saigon Autotech & Accessories slated for next May
Hanoi (VNA) – The Saigon International Autotech & Accessories Show (Saigon Autotech & Accessories) will return for the 17th edition in Ho Chi Minh City from May 21 to 24 next year. The event will be organised at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre by the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Department of Industry, the Asia Trade Fair and Business Promotion JSC (ATFA) and the K-Wellness association of the Republic of Korea. ATFA representative Ninh Minh Uyen said the upcoming event will feature more than 500 booths on 15,000 sq.m. of ground. It is expected to see a rise of 15 – 20 percent in the number of foreign participating businesses and attract 15,000 visitors.
