Viet Nam welcomes Australian business (16-04-2009) HA NOI — The Vietnamese Government will create favourable conditions for Australian businesses to invest and operate in Viet Nam, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung yesterday. Dung made the affirmation while receiving a delegation of leading Australian businesses, led by Richard Woolcoot, director of the Asia-Australia Society. He welcomed the Australian business representatives to Viet Nam to expand investment and help boost friendship and co-operation between the two countries. PM Nguyen Tan Dung meets with Australian Governor General Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung met with the Governor General of Australia, Peter Cosgrove, in Sydney on March 17 during his official visit to the country. The Vietnamese PM used the occasion to emphasise Vietnam’s consistent policy of intensifying the comprehensive partnership with Australia. He also welcomed Australia’s policy of enhancing ties with Indo-Pacific countries, including Vietnam. The two leaders hailed the development of the friendship and cooperation between the two countries across many fields, particularly since the establishment of a formal bilateral comprehensive partnership in 2009. The delegation includes 16 enterprises providing technical support for projects on energy, clean water, infrastructure, environment protection, education and healthcare. The visit aims at satisfying Australian businesses' thirst for expanding investment activities in Việt Nam, the Commission said. During their stay in Hà Nội, this delegation plans to have working sessions with representative offices of the World Bank (WB) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), ministries and international sponsors on Việt Nam's top priorities, future strategies and projects. Earlier, Austrade also sent a delegation of ten Australian enterprises specializing in mining to the Southeast Asian country for the same purpose. Australian Business Awards 2006 In a press conference held in HCM City on October 6, 2006, the Australian Chamber of Commerce announced that it will host its fourth annual business awards on December 1, 2006. This award ceremony will celebrate innovation, diversity, youth, durability, excellence and community awareness. 2006 will be the second year of the Auscham Young Starters Business Grant. This is an initiative which contributes to the local community through the support and development of a young Vietnamese business person aged of 18 to 30 who possess excellent ideas on business, the enthusiasm and commitment of the applicant, the sustainability and financial viability of the business concept and potential on actual Australian business linkages. The Hanoitimes - The Vietnam- Australian Northern Territory business forum aims to further enhance economic and trade links between Vietnamese and Australian businesses.
