Cam Ranh International Terminal Company announced on May 19 that budget airline Vietjet Air of Vietnam will re-operate an air route connecting Cam Ranh airport (Khanh Hoa) and Incheon airport (Republic of Korea). According to the plan, VietJet Air will run two flights a week, every Wednesday and Friday, on the air route, starting on May 20. Cam Ranh airport is scheduled to receive plane coded VJ837 carrying approximately 160 passengers on board from Incheon at 13:15 on May 20, kick-starting the resumption of the route. Da Nang expects to welcome back RoK tourists
These are some RoK tour groups arriving in Da Nang post- COVID-19 . They are with travel companies and taking part in a business trip to meet Vietnamese partners in the city to develop new tourism products in an attempt to attract more RoK tourists to Vietnam. In 2019, prior to COVID-19, Da Nang welcomed nearly 1.8 million tourists from the RoK, arriving on more than 200 flights a week. Only Incheon - Da Nang flights have resumed so far, with 6 flights a week. However, according to travel companies, there are many difficulties in recovering the RoK market due to its government’s vaccine policy for the elderly and children as well as the tourism ecosystem in Da Nang to serve Korean tourists. The local aviation market experienced a strong recovery in April. — VNA/VNS Photo The aviation market in Viet Nam is vibrant and recovering with the number of international visitors increasing five-fold, according to experts. According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam (CAAV), in April, Viet Nam's airports handled 6.6 million passengers, down 14.3 per cent compared to the same time last year but the number of foreign visitors reached more than 230,000 in April, an impressive increase of 502 per cent over the same period last year when COVID-19 was developing in a complex fashion. CAAV said Vietnamese airlines transported 3.28 million passengers, including 80,000 foreigners. Compared to the same period last year, the number of international passengers choosing services of Vietnamese airlines rose 214.7 per cent, while the number of domestic passengers dropped 18.2 per cent.
