Delegates at the workshop (Source: www.baohomnay.com) Hanoi (VNA) – An international workshop on the assessment of shale energy in Asia, under the second phase of the unconventional oil and gas resources project, took place in Hanoi on April 23. The event was jointly held by the Coordinating Committee for Geoscience Programmes in East & Southeast Asia (CCOP), the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM), and the Vietnam Petroleum Institute (VPI). Dr. Byeong-Kook Son, head of KIGAM’s oil and gas research group, introduced the results of the assessment in 13 sedimentary basins and 21 shale formations in Asia. Addressing the launching ceremony, Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh says the launch of the campaign reflects the Government's strong commitment to make Viet Nam a safe, friendly and civilized destination. Viet Nam News by DataLeads NEW DELHI — According to the recent Hydropower Status Report, East Asia and the Pacific has the highest annual increase in hydropower capacity with China contributing the largest share of installed capacity. Over 90 per cent of the capacity added in 2017 in the region came from China, which increased its total installed capacity to 341,190 MW. Japan is second in the region with an installed capacity of 49,905 MW. It is followed closely by India with an installed capacity of 49,382 MW. In India, added capacity was contributed by the 1,200 MW Teesta III project in the Himalayan north-eastern state of Sikkim. Việt Nam is ranked fourth in the region with an installed capacity of 16, 679MW. It added to the greater Mekong region’s capacity with its 260 MW Trung Sơn project becoming fully operational in 2017.
