Last week, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) sent a document requesting airlines to comply with the daily flight plan with confirmed slots and issued flight permits. If flights are found to be moving at the wrong time compared to the confirmed slot, the service will be refused and reported to the authority. This is the second time that the CAAV has decided to remind airlines about daily plans, with delays and cancellations of flights forcing initial action earlier in July. Airline delays increase during peak season According to data from the agency, the number of delayed flights in June reached around 5,600, accounting for 18.2 per cent and up 16 per cent over the same period in 2021. A Vietnam Airlines flight from Hanoi to Tokyo, Japan had to make a U-turn over Chinese airspace to return to the Vietnamese capital city for medical treatment for a Japanese child passenger with a nosebleed on Monday. Just 35 minutes following its departure from Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi at 7:35 am on Monday, flight VN384 operated by flag carrier Vietnam Airlines turned around as blood kept coming out of a ten-year-old Japanese child’s nose despite first aid given by flight attendants. Vietnamese man receives 9-month flight ban for failure to pay smoking fine
A man from Hai Duong Province, northern Vietnam was given a nine-month flight ban after he failed to pay a fine for smoking on a plane in late June. The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) imposed a nine-month flight ban on 23-year-old Duong Van Thanh from Nam Sach District, Hai Duong Province. The ban is effective from August 10, 2022 to May 9, 2023. Thanh previously boarded flight VJ 134 from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi on June 29. He smoked a cigarette on the airplane even though the flight attendant informed that smoking was not allowed on the flight. After the plane landed, the flight crew handed Thanh over to the airport security unit, which later transferred the case to the Northern Airports Authority. On June 30, the Northern Airports Authority imposed a fine upon the passenger for his violation.
