Ho Chi Minh Trail starting point accredited as special national relic
The starting point of the Ho Chi Minh Trail – Km Zero – in the central province of Nghe An’s Tan Ky district (Photo: baonghean.vn) The recognition was announced by the provincial People’s Committee Office on May 13. Tan Ky People’s Committee was tasked with protecting and promoting the site, which is expected to become an attraction of local tourism. The wartime legendary trail starts from Nghe An and runs through Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam, Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong and ends in Binh Phuoc. It passes through areas of dense jungles, and served as a key artery supplying weapons, goods, food, military equipment and personnel from the North to the South during the country’s resistance war against the US. Bat Trang village’s ceramic products Vietnam has some 5,400 craft villages, spanning many different crafts, such as lacquer, ceramics, gold, silver, embroidery, bamboo, rattan, weaving, paper, folk paintings, wood, and stone. Their handicraft products are diverse in design and quality. Van Phuc silk, Bat Trang pottery, and Dong Xam silver carving have been recognized as national brands. Dam Tien Thang, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, said that despite their economic value, the potential of traditional craft villages hasn’t been fully tapped. He said “Hanoi craft villages’ annual production is estimated to be nearly 1 billion USD and annual export turnover is approximately 200 million USD a year. A Japanese 75-year-old tourist on a Panama-flagged cruise ship has been saved from stroke off the coast of the southern central province of Khanh Hoa’s Nha Trang City. According to the Vietnam Maritime Rescue Co-operation Centre (VNMRCC) region IV, at around 9:15 pm on December 5, the agency received an urgent call for help from the tourist cruise Ocean Dream’s captain about the Japanese tourist’s critical condition. The Japanese tourist on a Panama-flagged cruise ship has been saved from stroke Makino Tsuneji showed signs of stroke and being in a coma.
