Lang Son administrative reforms aim at one-door customs mechanism
(VOVworld) – In recent years, Lang Son’s customs officials have stepped up administrative reforms and begun to embrace e-customs. The effort has turned Lang Son customs sector into one of Vietnam’s leading customs departments in IT application. Lang Son province has a number of border gates with China. Imports and exports via border crossings in Lang Son account for 60% of northern provinces’ total cargos, which are mainly machinery, chemicals, components, and spare parts. Vietnam mostly imports agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products, and fine art articles. Every year, exports going out the Huu Nghi or Friendship border gate total about 1 billion USD and an average of 250 businesses must go through import-export procedures at the crossing. Finance Ministry hailed as administrative reform pioneer The Saigon Times Daily HCMC - The Ministry of Finance has been a pioneer in administrative procedure reform, particularly in tax and customs, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) President Vu Tien Loc said. Loc made the point at a seminar held by the Ministry of Finance, VCCI and the World Bank (WB) in Hanoi on Tuesday to announce an assessment report on tax reform and business satisfaction, according to the Government’s news website (chinhphu.vn). Considering businesses as a key driver for the country’s growth, the Government has issued Resolution 19 on improvement of the country’s business environment and competitiveness on a yearly basis since 2014 and Resolution 35 on supporting business growth.
