Vietnam proactively responds to climate change to guarantee human rights

Seminar introduces sustainable energy solutions for community

Illustrative Image (Source: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Low-cost models and sustainable energy solutions applied for the community in rural and mountainous areas were introduced at a recent seminar in Hanoi, which was jointly held by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), Live & Learn and the French Cultural Centre (L’Espace) in Hanoi. Among the solutions were wind-power generators using recycled materials for the community living on Red River’s sand-bank, renovated cooking stove for rural and mountainous households, and air filter using solar power. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Director of the The he xanh (Green Generation) JSC, held that using traditional stoves of Vietnam is harmful for both human health and the environment. 'Diary of a cricket’ has been translated into different languages. To Hoai’s ‘Diary of a cricket’ has been regarded as a classic children’s novel through seven decades. It describes the adventures of a cricket in a world of animals and people, good and bad, war and peace, ideals and life’s purpose in an insightful way. Ever since the book was written more than 70 years ago, it has been a favorite of all the children’s books in Vietnam. The story has been translated into Russian, English, French, Japanese, Swedish, Korean, and Khmer, and is popular in 40 countries. Vietnam’s textile industry aims for green standards

The textile and garment industry, aiming to take advantage of free trade agreements (FTAs) with a focus on green manufacturing, is upbeat about earning US$60 billion from exports by 2025. Last year the industry earned $36 billion in exports, up 16 per cent year-on-year, making the country one of the world’s three biggest exporters of textiles and apparel, according to the Viet Nam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS). Vu Duc Giang, chairman of VITAS, said the association this year set a target of $40 billion in exports, up 11 per cent year-on-year. Speaking at the 2019 Global Textile and Apparel Supply Chain Conference held last week in HCM City, Giang said the industry was expected to enjoy a trade surplus of $20 billion, and employ 2.85 million workers.
