The website said there are endless reasons why Bangkok has long-reigned as the most visited city in the world -- and the metropolis is picking up just where it left off pre-COVID. The website this year also ranked Phuket and Samui first and second, respectively, on its list of "Best Islands in Southeast Asia". Vietnam to host Miss Grand International 2023
A signing ceremony for the agreement to organize Miss Grand International 2023 took place in Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday afternoon, officially confirming Vietnam as the contest's host country. This is the second time Vietnam has been chosen to organize Miss Grand International. Previously, the country held the event in 2017, which took place in a variety of locations, including Ho Chi Minh City, Quang Binh Province, and Phu Quoc Island. Vietnamese passport leaps four places in Henley Passport Index
The Vietnamese passport has climbed four notches to rank 90th on a list of the world’s most powerful passports, according to the latest report compiled by Henley Passport Index. Illustrative photo The rankings were announced in the second quarter of this year and includes 199 different passports and 227 different travel destinations, with its assessment based on the number of countries a holder can visit without first needing to obtain a visa. The latest index indicates that people with a Vietnamese passport enjoy free access to 54 countries and territories globally. Along with the nation, Togo, Mali, and Guinea also hold joint 90th position as their passports also have visa free access to 54 destinations. Elsewhere, Japan and Singapore share first position as the most powerful passport in the world in the second quarter of this year, with their citizens able to visit 192 countries and territories without the need to apply for a visa. Electronics groups from South Korea and Japan are continuing to expand in Vietnam, Le Toan The Saigon Hi-tech Park Management Authority has recently granted the license for Samsung Electronics HCMC CE Complex (SEHC) to expand its operation with a total investment capital of $841 million. Starting operations in 2016, SEHC is currently Samsung Electronics’ second-largest manufacturing site worldwide for TV screens and home electronics units. Meanwhile, Samsung Engineering has officially become the strategic shareholder of DNP Water, a member of DNP Holdings, after spending $41 million to acquire 24 per cent of the company. The pair signed a strategic partnership agreement on June 29. Investing in DNP Water is an opportunity for Samsung Engineering to approach the water treatment sector in Vietnam.
