The Military Medical Relay Race event was opened at the complex training ground of S. M. Kirov Military Academy in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Apart from participating contingents, the ceremony saw the presence of delegates from the Government of Russia, Saint Petersburg, and the Russian Department of Military Medicine. The organization of the Military Medical Relay Race event aims to improve military medical forces’ skills in terms of treatment, giving first aid, and transporting injured people. Just eight out of fifteen contingents from countries and territories will compete in all contents of this year’s event. Army Games 2022 opens in Moscow
This year event drew the participation of 264 teams from 34 nations to compete in 34 events. Its competitions take place in 12 countries, namely Russia, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, Iran, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, and Vietnam. It will last till August 27. This was the first time that the Army Games is held in Venezuela, a Latin American nation. The games also witness two new participating countries: Bolivia and Rwanda. The first competition of the “Army of Culture” contingent of Vietnam took place at the Central House of the Russian Armed Forces named after Frunze. In this competition with nine rivals, the Vietnamese artists had the second musical instrument duet performance. In the afternoon the same day, there was a solo competition on the first work. The same day, at Forish training ground in Jizzakh province, Uzbekistan, the Field Kitchen contingent of the Vietnam People’s Army entered the shooting stage of the Field Kitchen event. Vietnam’s rivals are from Russia, Uzbekistan, Belarus and Tajikistan. The Field Kitchen event comprises of three competition stages of shooting in which the combat readiness posture of the cook is checked; cooking and baking of bakery products according to free recipe; and cooking and baking according to the menu. Germany accepts Vietnamese redesigned passport
The move aims to facilitate Vietnamese citizens in Germany to obtain residence permits and conduct other administrative procedures. Germany has recognized the validity of the newly introduced Vietnamese passport after the Vietnamese authorities agreed to add information about the holder's place of birth, according to the German Embassy in Hanoi. Accordingly, Germany will begin issuing visas for Vietnamese holders of the new passport as long as it is added information about the place of birth on the observations page. In its announcement, the German Federal Foreign Office said it appreciated Vietnam's timely solution to this issue. A trip to Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum can be an extraordinary experience for any visitor. The Mausoleum of late President Ho Chi Minh in Hanoi reopened to the public today [August 16] after regular maintenance since June 13, according to the mausoleum’s Management Board. Vietnam fisheries watchdog orders inquiry into video of giant arapaima release
The Vietnamese Directorate of Fisheries required its subordinates in Ho Chi Minh City to verify whether a recently-circulated video capturing the release of an arapaima gigas that allegedly took place at a wharf in the city is true or not. Captioned 'Releasing 90-kilogram (198 pounds) arapaima gigas,' the 30-second video showed about 10 people on a boat returning a large arapaima back to the water. The location of the boat was believed to be at a wharf in District 8, Ho Chi Minh City. Arapaima gigas, also known as pirarucu, is an air-breathing fish that is native to the rainforest rivers of South America’s Amazon Basin and nearby lakes and swamps, according to National Geographic . Among the largest freshwater fish species, it can grow up to 15 feet long and weigh up to 440 pounds, though fish that big have not been reported for many years.
