Marksman Trần Quốc Cường won gold in the men’s 50m pistol event. After six attempts of 10 bullets, the 48-year-old shooter grabbed 548 points, surpassing Naung Ye Tun of Myanmar (546) in second and Boriphat Jariyatakone of Thailand (545) in third place. “My result is not as good as it was in practice and previous competitions. However I am happy with the gold medal,” said Cường who was on top of the podium again after seven years. Cường will retire after this Games. UNDP Photo HÀ NỘI - Nguyễn Thị Huyên, 65, now lives in a safe house thanks to a programme initiated by the Government, the UN Development Programme (UNDP), and the Green Climate Fund (GCF). Huyên, from Tuyết Điệm 1 Village in the central coastal province of Quảng Ngãi, suffers from sciatica and lives alone. Every day, she relied on neighbours to bring her food and daily necessities. She lived in difficult circumstances in an old shanty house that had its roof blown off during bad weather. She said: “Incidentally, I was advised by my nephew to apply for the safe house programme by the Government. Malaysia’s mountain cycling squad makes history at SEA Games 31

(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The national mountain cycling crew of Malaysia made history on May 17 by bagging the country’s first gold medal in the mixed cross-country relay event at the ongoing SEA Games 31 . The event took place in Vietnam’s Hoa Binh northern mountainous province. In the final, the squad comprising Ahmad Syazrin Awang Ilah, Zulfikri Zulkifli, Nur Assyira Zainal Abidin and Natahsya Soon clocked 1:23:14 to emerge victorious. The best achievement of the Malaysia n team was winning the silver medal in the Games in 2011. GE gets first 9HA combined cycle power plant equipment order in VN

It will supply two blocks of more than 800 MW each including a GE 9HA.02 gas turbine, the company’s most efficient 50 Hz gas turbine, an STF-D650 steam turbine, a W88 generator, and others. It marks the US firm’s first H-Class gas turbine order in Viet Nam. Once in commercial operation in 2025, the plant, the first to be fuelled by liquefied natural gas in the country, is expected to deliver over 1.6 GW of electricity. The highly efficient natural gas means the power plant will have a lower environmental impact than thermal plants.
