Authorities in Khanh Hoa Province, Vietnam are preparing for next month’s Nha Trang Beach Tourism Festival 2022. The festival is part of the south-central province’s efforts to attract tourists to the famous coastal city of Nha Trang under Vietnam’s 2022 National Tourism Year campaign after two years of stalled tourism due to COVD-19. The event is aimed at promoting Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa as a “safe, high-quality, attractive, and friendly” destination, according to Cung Quynh Anh, deputy director of the Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism. The fest is meant to create opportunities for localities and businesses to introduce their tourism products to tourists and residents alike. UNDP supports flood-resilient houses for Vietnam coastal residents
It’s estimated to cost US$330 million to provide housing for climate-vulnerable in 28 coastal provinces in Vietnam. Dozens of vulnerable people in Quang Binh, one of Vietnam’s localities heavily affected by natural disasters, will soon benefit from a housing program supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), World Share, and local authorities. National Assembly greenlights extension of resolution on bad debt management
The validity extension of the resolution is of particular significance due to rising bad debts during the pandemic. The index closed 35.05 points higher after gaining 14.57 points on Tuesday. Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased by nearly 24 percent to VND16.57 trillion ($714 million), the highest of eight sessions. The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 27 tickers gain. PNJ of Phu Nhuan Jewelry and FPT of IT giant FPT Corporation hit ceiling prices with a gain of 7 percent and 6.9 percent, respectively. It was followed by GVR of Vietnam Rubber Group and VPB of private lender VPBank, both up 5 percent. Vietnam tourism development ranked among three biggest global improvers
Vietnam gained an overall score of 4.1 out of seven points, rising by 4.7 percent to leap from 60th in 2019 to 52nd out of 117 economies in the 2021 index released on Wednesday by the World Economic Forum (WEF). The index measures the factors and policies that will enable sustainable and resilient development of tourism from business, safety and health conditions, to infrastructure and natural resources, environmental, socioeconomic and demand pressures. The WEF report further ascribed Vietnam’s improved ranking to its achievements in Covid pandemic prevention, flexible adaptation as well as continuous efforts to develop safe tourism. Vietnam performed well in price competitiveness, safety and security, air transport and port infrastructure as well as natural resources. A landslide triggered by heavy rain in northern mountainous Tuyên Quang Province. — VNA/VNS Photo HÀ NỘI — At least five people died and five others were injured after heavy rain and flooding hit the northern and northern-central regions over the past few days, according to the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control. Four people lost their lives in flash floods and landslides triggered by downpours in the mountainous provinces of Điện Biên, Tuyên Quang and Hòa Bình. One person in central Quảng Ngãi Province died after being struck by lightining. 317 houses were destroyed in the localities. Over 19,200ha of rice and crops, 421.6ha of aquaculture farms and nearly 7,000 animals and poultry were either inundated or swept away.
