Viet Nam News Đà Nẵng International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2017 will feature eight teams from Australia, Switzerland, Japan, United Kingdom, Austria, Italy, China and hosts Việt Nam. The festival was first held in 2008 with four international teams. This year, a series of unique events including a street festival and food festival will also bring tourists meaningful experiences. The festival will be held from April 30 to June 24 in the central city of Đà Nẵng. Culture vulture interviews festival director Lê Quý Dương about his first time directing the festival. Local Lowdown (02-09-2005) Fireworks to light up National Day night skies HA NOI — Fireworks displays will be held in Ha Noi and HCM City today to celebrate 60 years of independence. In the capital people will be able to enjoy fireworks displays at Hoan Kiem, Tay and Ngoc Khanh lakes and Thong Nhat Park. In HCM City displays will be held at Ho Chi Minh Museum in District 4, Ben Duoc Martyr Memorial in the outlying district of Cu Chi, the historic Nga Ba Giong site in Hoc Mon District and Nha Be District’s Administration Hall. People's Artist Dang Thai Son to perform in Vietnam People's Artist Dang Thai Son will return to Vietnam to perform a concert titled ‘Dang Thai Son-New Sound in 20th Century’ at the Opera House in Hanoi at 8pm on December 4. Dang Thai Son will perform works of two famous French composers, Claude Debussy and Francis Poulenc. Besides that, he will also perform two works of musicians Do Hong Quan and Dang Huu Phuoc. The program will be attended by artist Luu Hong Quang, who will play piano pieces of Francis Poulenc. In his life, Dang Thai Son has remained devoted to Vietnamese music and always supported young musical talent of Vietnamese music. Phat Diem Church in the northern province of Ninh Binh will attract thousands of local Christians and tourists to celebrate Christmas next week with its special Christmas service, unique architecture and peaceful surroundings. The church dates back to the 1870s and is the centre of Catholicism in the northern region. The church was built between 1875 and 1898 in the province’s Kim Son District by the Vietnamese priest Tran Luc known as Father Sau, who designed the church without any training in architecture or painting. The most remarkable feature of the Cathedral is that it is made with marble and granite. Therefore, it is also known as the StoneChurch. The church also includes a complex including several artificial lakes, churches, and artificial caves.
