Vietnam ranks third overall at ASEAN Para Games 2022
Vietnamese athletes bagged seven more gold medals on August 5, the last competition day of the ASEAN Para Games 2022, retaining their third place in the medal tally. Weightlifter Le Van Cong celebrates his victory in Indonesia. On August 5, they clinched four gold medals in swimming and three other gold medals in chess. Notably, swimmer Trinh Thi Bich Nhu set a new record in the women’s 100 freestyle when she reached the finish line with a time of 1 minute 25 seconds 11. The Vietnamese swimming team comprising Nguyen Thanh Trung, Do Thanh Hai, Danh Hoa and Le Tien Dat also broke the Games’ record in the relay. As of 6pm, Vietnam had broken 14 records and bagged a total of 60 gold, 54 silver and 44 bronze medals, ranking third in the medal tally after hosts Indonesia and Thailand. 3,000 children to join “LofKun Happy Run” event in HCM City

Soc Trang Province decides to revoke FLC’s US$107mln project
The current freshwater lake cultural area is near the freshwater lake new urban area project. Sharing with Sai Gon Giai Phong (SGGP) Newspaper, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee of Soc Trang Tran Van Lau said that Soc Trang Province is processing procedures of revoking the freshwater lake new urban area project invested by the FLC group. The project is located at a prime location in Soc Trang City center near the current freshwater lake cultural area. The People’s Committee of Soc Trang Province had issued a decision on approval of investor selection result from the beginning of 2020 and the State has basically invested in the infrastructure in the area. The project has a total area of 47 hectares, including 14.64 hectares of a housing project with a total investment of nearly VND2,500 billion (US$107 million). Hanoi’s tourism industry sees positive growth during January-July

Factories strive to retain workers amid falling orders
Footwear maker Long Rich Vietnam Co. Ltd based in Thu Duc, with almost 5,000 workers, has just enough orders for workers to complete during regular working hours and so there is no scope for overtime work unlike previously, Nguyen Thi Thuy Van, chairwoman of its labor union, said. With orders expected to drop further, the company has made plans to retain all its workers. If there are not enough orders to keep them busy, they will be asked to do other jobs such as cleaning the machinery and making covers for the machines and gloves and aprons for themselves. During this period, they will still get a fixed salary and daily lunch. Even if there is not any work for them, the factory will still have workers check in every day to have lunch.
