The event was attended by Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San, Commander of the Vietnam Border Guard Command Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai, and representatives from functional agencies of the Ministry of National Defense.
The key report delivered by the Vietnam Border Guard's Deputy Commander Major General Nguyen Duc Manh revealed that over the past ten years, border guard agencies and units have completed targets set in the resolution. Notably, the border guard force has accelerated production to raise the quality of meals for troops. So far, all border guard units have been equipped with catering material.
Especially, over the past two years, the Vietnam Border Guard Command has directed its units to take drastic measures to prevent COVID-19 pandemic and ensure logistic supplies to thousands of troops working at medical checkpoints in border areas and at sea. In addition, medical personnel of the Vietnam Border Guard Command have actively participated in pandemic prevention and control missions. Together with working in quarantine areas, border guard's medical staff have cooperated with military hospitals and local medical establishments to provide COVID-19 vaccine for troops and health check-ups for local people.
Speaking at the event, Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San acknowledged and praised positive outcomes obtained by border guard troops in general and its logistic services in particular over the past ten years implementing the resolution.
The Deputy Defense Minister asked the Border Guard Party Committee and Command to continue studying and strictly realizing resolutions and directives of the Party and the Central Military Commission and Resolution 623 in the new situation and carrying out emulation movement, themed "Military logistical service follows President Ho Chi Minh's teaching."
He urged the Vietnam Border Guard Command to develop measures to overcome shortcomings and achieve targets set in the resolution and ensure logistical equipment for border guard units and agencies to successfully fulfill both regular and unscheduled missions.
At the same time, the command's Party Committee should direct the provincial and municipal border guard commands to actively give advice to the Party committees and authorities at the grassroots level and take full advantage of localities' support to improve border troops' living standards, the deputy defense minister said.
Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San also asked the border guard force to increase production to ensure on-the-spot logistic supplies in all situations, including natural disasters and epidemics and provide regular and periodical health check-ups for all border troops.
