SEA Games 31: Martial arts create ‘golden rain’

Pencak Silat fighter Tran Dinh Nam was the first to open the 'golden rain' when he excellently defeated his Singaporean rival in the final of the men's 70-75kg class.

The 'golden rain' continued with the gold bagged by Pencak Silat fighter Le Van Toan in the men's over 110kg class.

Attentively, in the final of the men's 75-80kg class, fighter Nguyen Tan Sang easily held the gold medal due to the giving-up of the Singaporean rival.

The fourth gold of the Pencak Silat team belonged to fighter Duy Tuyen in the men's 80-85kg class after he won over an Indonesian fighter.

Notable, fighter Quang Thi Thu Nghia added a gold medal in women's 70-75kg class to the medal tally of the Vietnamese Pencak Silat team on May 16.

Meanwhile, in men's team poomsae event, athletes Nguyen Thien Phung, Nguyen Dinh Khoi and Tran Ho Duy outstandingly won the gold medal for the Vietnamese Taekwondo team.

In the women's team standard poomsae event, athletes Nguyen Thi Kim Ha, Ngo Thi Thuy Dung and Nguyen Thi Hong Trang brought home another gold for the Taekwondo team of the host of SEA Games 31.

The victory of Vietnamese athletes extended with a gold in men's sabre team for fencing.

Vietnam keeps topping the medal tally at the ongoing SEA Games 31 with 76 gold medals.
