10 countries recognise Vietnam's vaccine passports
10 countries have confirmed to recognise the vaccine passports of Vietnam

The announcement was made by Le Thi Thu Hang, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) at the ministry's regular press conference in Hanoi on January 20. The recognition is the result of the government's efforts in campaigning for approval of the vaccine passports of Vietnam.

Besides this, Vietnam recognised the vaccine passports and the temporary certificates of 79 countries and territories. The recognition is a basis to decrease the concentrated isolation duration for people coming from these places to three days.

In late December, the Ministry of Health issued the vaccine passport model of Vietnam, after which the MoFA and its Consular Department introduced the model to representative offices of countries in Vietnam to consider for approval.

At the same time, Vietnam's representative offices overseas made an effort to campaign countries to recognise the model.

From January 1, Vietnam reopened international commercial flights with eight countries and territories.

The government approved that overseas Vietnamese and their family members just need to have valid visa exemptions and will be allowed to enter the country without further approval from localities.

Meanwhile, people with a residence card, temporary residence card, visa or visa exemption will be allowed to enter Vietnam according to the Law on Foreigners' Entry in, Exit from, Transit through and Residence in Vietnam.

In case one does not have the above papers but still wants to enter for specific purposes, they would need to get approval from the provincial people's committee, ministries, and central government before completing the procedures and receiving a visa.
