All tourist attractions in Quang Ninh Province and Hai Phong City in northern Vietnam, including the famous Ha Long Bay, have been shut down due to the increasingly serious COVID-19 pandemic in Vietnam.
The Quang Ninh People's Committee decided to suspend all tourism activities from 12:00 pm on Thursday until further notice as part of its coronavirus prevention and control efforts.
Among those having been closed are tourist areas and attractions, relics, and scenic lookouts, including the UNESCO-recognized Ha Long Bay, as well as sea-island tourism routes.
Squares, parks, and flower gardens remain open but people are required to wear face masks, socially distance, and avoid crowded activities.
Religious establishments are not allowed to welcome visitors, while rituals and ceremonies must be organized internally with a limited number of participants.
The Hai Phong People's Committee has also shuttered all entertainment facilities, including cinemas, gyms and sports centers, street food stalls, sidewalk eateries and cafés, historic sites, scenic spots, and religious venues from 0:00 on Thursday.
Local golf courses remain open but they are prohibited from serving customers who have visited to COVID-19-hit areas.
Restaurants and beverage establishments with dine-in services may continue to operate but they have to ensure a one-meter distance between each patron and impose other COVID-19 prevention and control measures.
Authorities are also encouraging customers to choose takeaway over dine-in.
Unnecessary conferences, seminars, and crowded activities are suspended, while urgent events must limit the number of attendees.
Local residents are required to comply with COVID-19 prevention and control measures and limit the number of attendees when organizing weddings, funerals, anniversaries, and other types of parties.
Vietnam has so far documented 3,091 COVID-19 cases, with 2,560 recoveries and 35 deaths, according to the Ministry of Health.
A total of 121 local infections have been recorded across the country since April 27.
