Japan officially announces Vietnam visit by PM Suga

Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide (Nhập mô tả Photo: AFP/VNA) Tokyo (VNA) – The Japanese Government on October 16 officially announced that Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide will pay visits to Vietnam and Indonesia from October 18 to 21 to discuss measures aimed at strengthening relations with the two key Southeast Asian countries. Speaking at a press conference, Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Katsunobu Kato said the leader is expected to hold talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Indonesian President Joko Widodo. According to the spokesman for the Japanese Government, PM Suga and PM Phuc will discuss cooperative measures to develop bilateral relations within the extensive strategic partnership between the two countries. PM Suga will also affirm Japan’s cooperation with Vietnam regarding high-level meetings of ASEAN scheduled to take place in November. He will deliver an important address during his visit on Japan’s policy towards ASEAN. While in Indonesia, he and President Widodo will discuss measures for cooperation in many fields, including responding to the COVID-19 pandemic to further develop a strategic partnership between Japan and Indonesia.
