Fresh new vision for ABB in Vietnam

November 18, 2019 by

“I am excited to be here in a growing country which is experiencing fast-paced urbanisation. I look forward to working with the ABB team and our local customers and partners to explore opportunities.” – Noel Hupont New managing director and head of electrification, ABB Vietnam

ABB, a Swiss-Swedish robotics and automotive tech corporation, has appointed Noel Hupont as its managing director and head of electrification business for Vietnam, effective last month.

Hupont succeeds Brian Hull, who has moved to lead the Power Grids business in the country following ABB’s announcement of planned divestment of the global Power Grids business to Hitachi, to be completed by June 2020.

Hupont’s strong leadership is expected to drive the corporate strategy across businesses and underpin ABB’s growth momentum in Vietnam.

The new managing director has been involved in various top-level roles in his 20 years at ABB Mexico and ABB France, and most recently served as local division manager for Electrification at ABB France. Hupont brings a deep understanding of market trends and the challenges that the industries are facing.

In his role, he will continue to focus on strengthening the group’s relationship with its customers and partners in the utility, industry, transportation, and infrastructure sectors in order to help accelerate sustainable value creation for their businesses.

“I am excited to be here in a growing country which is experiencing fast-paced urbanisation. I look forward to working with the ABB team in Vietnam and our local customers and partners to explore opportunities in e-mobility, industrial automation, and digitalisation,” Hupont said.

“As a pioneering technology leader, ABB will continue to bring innovative solutions to help customers achieve energy efficiency, optimise productivity, and reduce environmental impacts. We are committed to supporting a safe, smart, and sustainable future for Vietnam.”

Hupont holds a bachelor’s degree of Engineering in Electro-Mechanical from Les Compagnons Du Devoir in France and a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Barcelona.

With a history of innovation spanning more than 130 years, ABB has four customer-focused, globally leading businesses in electrification, industrial automation, motion, and robotics and discrete automation, supported by the ABB Ability digital platform.

ABB is operating in more than 100 countries, and boasts 147,000 employees.
