A local resident in the commune reported that six pigs on his farm had been found dead on March 18. After receiving reports of the incident, the relevant units within Lai Chau province took samples from the pig farm for testing with the results of four samples coming back positive for the ASF virus. The relevant agencies in Lai Chau, working in co-ordination with local authorities, were able to cull the infected pigs. In addition, they also managed to isolate any contaminated zones and set up a quarantine station to strictly monitor the transportation of pigs and pork products. Immediately after the first outbreak of ASF was detected, the district worked alongside relevant units to cull the infected pig flock.
