Here are a few other considerations to bear in mind when owning and using electric, hybrid or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. Subsidies from the state The Luxembourg state currently offers a tax allowance for sustainable forms of transport. Private citizens can apply for a tax allowance up to: €5,000 on the purchase of a zero-emissions private vehicle running on fully electric or hydrogen fuel cell; €2,500 for a rechargeable hybrid electric car whose emissions don’t exceed 50g Co2/km. They cannot apply for these tax deductions more than once every five years. The new government announced in January that this scheme will in future be replaced with a bonus incentive scheme for sustainable mobility.
