The statement was made by Vice Chairman of National Assembly (NA) Phung Quoc Hien during his working session with Bac Lieu province’s leaders on December 3. The NA Vice Chairman appreciated the achievements that the province has gained over past years, particularly since the 15th provincial Party Committee’s Congress in 2015. He also noted that Bac Lieu still faces numerous difficulties and challenges, particularly serious impacts of climate change in local people’s lives. NA Vice Chairman Hien urged the province to choose appropriate methods in climate change adaptation as well as actively prevent coastal erosion and sea level rises in order to protect the people’s production and lives. Earlier the same day, the NA Vice Chairman inspected the coastal landslide and Bac Lieu wind farm in Vinh Trach Dong commune as well as visited the high-tech shrimp farms of Vietnam – Australia Corporation in Hiep Thanh commune.
