Japan-Vietnam Festival slated for early next year in HCMC By Thanh Hoa HCMC vice chairman Le Thanh Liem and Tsutomu Takabe (R), special advisor to the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance, shake hands at the meeting – PHOTO: THANH HOA HCMC – The sixth Japan-Vietnam Festival is scheduled to take place at September 23 Park in District 1 of HCMC in January next year, said Tsutomu Takabe, special advisor to the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance. Takabe was speaking at a meeting last week. The opening ceremony will be held on January 18 while main activities like Karaoke competition in Japanese and Vietnam music show will take place on the two following days. In addition, there will be many Vietnamese and Japanese booths introducing products of the two countries. Le Thanh Liem, vice chairman of HCMC, said at the meeting that the municipal authorities will create favorable conditions for the festival, which will greatly contribute to boosting cultural exchange, tourism and education cooperation between the city and Japan.
