A coastline of over 3,000 kilometers is an advantage drawing a large number of tourists to Vietnam. Sea and island tours are accounting for around 70 percent of the country’s tourism activities and these are defined as a breakthrough to spur sea-based economy, and as a way to defend national sovereignty. Vietnam has 2,770 near-shore islands and its 125 beaches and bays are serving tourism. More than 1, 400 accommodations have been developed along the coastal areas for sea and island vacationers.
