Nine-year-old Viet Anh in the central province of Quang Binh’s Dong Hoa Commune, Tuyen Hoa District is facing the risk of death due to lymphoma. Some days ago, the grandfather took the boy to the headquarters of Dantri/DTiNews in Hanoi to call for help after being told by volunteers at Vietnam National Hospital of Paediatrics when they came to the hospital for the medical check-up. The ailing boy and his grandfather Cam said that Viet Anh’s mother has left to remarry, while his father has been struggling with leg injuries after a traffic accident. At present, he has to use a wheelchair. By mid-2017, he was diagnosed with lymphoma after long fevers. Doctors said he needed urgent treatment and his maternal grandfather had to try to borrow money from different sources to take him to hospital. According to doctors, the boy could die. “I am frightened of thinking of death. I want to live to learn and then try to look for a good job in the future to support my grandparents,” Viet Anh said.
