Speaking at a seminar on the auto industry in the Industry 4.0 era on the sidelines of the exhibition, “Vietnam Motor Show 2018,” co-organized by the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association and the Vietnam Car Importers Association in collaboration with the Asia Trade Fair & Business Promotion and Vinalink, experts noted that the auto industry will develop in accordance with four main trends: automation, connectivity, electric vehicles and car-sharing services. Automobiles are being developed with better software and advanced technology, and run on electricity intead of relying heavily on the mechanical and human factors and fuel, which ensure safer driving and bring drivers new experiences. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh, deputy director of the Heavy Industry Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, stated that technology firms are gettig more involved in the automobile sector, adding that many enterprises such as Google Inc., Uber and Apple, which have never manufactured automobiles before, are now drawing up plans to develop self-driving vehicles.
