Vietnam Airlines awarded the global four-star airlines at the APEX Expo The APEX Expo was held on September 24. Air France and United Airlines also were award-winners. APEX (The Airline Passenger Experience Association) is a non-profit organisation. In the past 40 years, it has regularly conducted surveys on passenger experience in order to improve the quality of in-flight catering services. While Skytrax ranks airlines based on the overall ground to in-flight service quality, APEX uses passenger feedback to assess airline in-flight services. The criteria include seat comfort, cabin service, food and beverages, entertainment and Wi-Fi. Vietnam Airlines has recently made huge investment to improve services. The airlines expanded the menu and the entertainment systems now include 100 movies, 300 music shows and 200 TV programmes. Business class passengers can enjoy comfortable seats and larger private space. At the ceremony, APEX’s Director Joe Leader, said that 107 out of 500 airlines were given four and five-star ratings. He was glad that Vietnam Airlines had become one of the few four-star airlines thanks to improving services. Vietnam Airlines has been given many certificates in the past years. It was given a 4-star airline certification by the UK airline and airport rating organisation, Skytrax, for three consecutive years, and received prestigious awards from TripAdvisor and at the World Travel Awards.
