Ngan Luong rolls out QR code payment service By Van Ly HANOI – E-wallet and online payment gateway NganLuong.vn announced on August 28 its cooperation with 15 banks, including Vietcombank, VietinBank, Agribank, BIDV, SHB, ABBank, SCB and TVB, to support payments through scanned QR codes. With this facility, users can make payments through the mobile banking service of these banks without entering their bank account information. The transaction is carried out within seconds. The QR code payment service has become quite popular in Vietnam, where more than half of the local people have smartphones. The country has 41.8 million 3G and 4G subscribers and more than 9,000 points of sale accepting QR code payments, such as convenience stores, supermarkets, restaurants and cinemas. Traditional online payment channels, such as bank cards, internet banking and e-wallets, together with the QR code payment service, have helped NganLuong.vn offer safer, faster and more convenient online payment services to consumers, gradually reducing cash-based transactions. NganLuong.vn expected the QR code payment service to help enterprises reduce operational costs and raise their revenues by 15-20%. The payment gateway was developed by Nexttech Group, formerly known as PeaceSoft Group, in 2009.
