NDO/VNA – National Assembly Vice Chairman Do Ba Ty has stated that Vietnam wants to further deepen its comprehensive partnership with the US in bilateral, regional and global aspects, on the basis of respect for each other’s political regime and development roadmap.
During a reception in Hanoi, on October 16, for Chairman of the US House Foreign Affairs Sub-Committee on Asia and the Pacific Ted Yoho, Ty said that the ties between Vietnam and the US have developed across the fields of politics, economy, trade, science-technology, culture, education, and national defence-security since 2013.
He suggested that the US Congress and government continues to boost their two-way trade, including facilitating the export of Vietnamese catfish to the US market.
Vietnam hopes that the US would continue assisting the country in improving the capacity of its coast guards, as well as their search and rescue efforts, and promoting the national defence industry, with priority given to shipbuilding, maritime supervision, training of officers, English language and military medicine, he said.
Yoho, for his part, hailed Vietnam as a significant trade partner of the US.
He expressed his belief that their bilateral relationship would grow intensively and extensively, and suggested that both sides need to deal with all existing issues to look towards a brighter future for later generations.
