Festival promotes local cakes Trung Chanh By Trung Chanh – The Saigon Times Daily A traditional cake festival was organized in Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City last week to honor cake making artisans and to promote traditional cake specialties in the south. Nguyen Khanh Tung, deputy head of the festival’s organizing committee, said about 100 types of traditional cakes and other 50 specialties of the south were introduced at the 100-booth event. Tung added that businesses from Japan, South Korea and India showcased their products at this year’s festival. Visitors to the festival showed their keen interest in foreign products. Phan Van Thanh, a representative of an enterprise in Trang Bang Town in Tay Ninh Province, told the Daily that his company brought banh trang phoi suong (a type of rice paper cake) and muoi ot Tay Ninh (Tay Ninh-style chili salt), the two specialties of the province, to the event. Visitors came to the festival tried foods on offer at the event.
